The news comes after New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the city would be lifting most capacity restrictions from May 14, paving the way for theatres and shows to reopen to full houses. “Broadway’s reopening – before tourists fully return – will be the perfect time for us tri-staters to attend Broadway as shows will be more accessible than ever.” Thomas Schumacher, president and producer of Disney Theatrical Productions, said: “After 18 months of being apart we are thrilled to welcome our audiences back and are proud to introduce these unique benefits to make buying Broadway tickets risk-free, flexible and affordable. The media giant’s productions of The Lion King and Aladdin announced their planned return to the stage at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York on September 14 and 28, respectively.įans have also been offered to purchase tickets for both shows starting at $149 in total.ĭisney has also announced that Lion King and Aladdin ticket-buyers can exchange or cancel tickets at no charge up to and including the day of performance. These are usually hard to get, but I was able to get very good seats at a reasonable price using the Today Tix app, which as an added bonus make ticket pickup a breeze 30 min before the show: in front of the theatre.Disney Theatrical has vowed to pay Ticketmaster’s service fees on tickets purchased to its Broadway shows until August 2022. While in other Broadway plays you can get away with seats in the back, this is one you’ll WANT to be up close to be in the midst of the action. However, to get the most out of the show (and because it is a BIG theatre) I recommend seats as close to the stage as possible. If there ever was a first Broadway show to take your kids, this is the one.Īs far as seating goes, the sound is good wherever you are. The scenery, the costumes, and the music really place you someplace magical from the beginning. It’s not “just a remake” of the animated film (or the new cgi/ live action-like), there’s something undeniably human that comes with the gifted actors and musicians that are part of this ensemble. This show brought tears to my eyes more than once.
